One of the things we love most about Palma de Mallorca is the variety of things to do on the island. Other than its beaches, Palma is also famous for its vibrant night scene and mix of cultural attractions. You will need at least a week to 10 days to fully explore the island and take in its beauty. Highlights to see:
- Palma’s historic Old Town: Walk through Plaza Mayor and the Jewish quarters and try their traditional desert (Ensaimada). From there, take a short walk to the Caterdral-Basicila de Santa Maria and the Royal Palace of La Almudaina. Both landmarks are close to each-other and definitely worth a visit.
- Day Trip to Soller: Highlight of the trip! Take the historic 100 year old train from Port of Soller to Soller (you can also take it from Palma) which will take you to a picturesque town in the mountains. Shop in the narrow streets, stop for a snack and then take the train back down to the port. Have lunch at Agapanto Flor de l’Amor, where they serve amazing farm to table dishes and away from the tourist traps. The setting is just beautiful and right on the beach.
- Lunch at Cala Deia: A tiny beach cove right next to the village, it has a rustic feel and laid back vibes. Make sure to prebook lunch in advance at Ca´s Patro March, the setting right by the water is just amazing and the fish is super fresh.
- A private boat trip: Another highlight of the trip, and a perfect way to explore Mallorca’s coastline and coves! Make sure to book with a trusted provider, and opt to include water activities such as paddle boarding. Sail4fun Mallorca can customise your experience according to your specific needs.
- Palma Aquarium: A perfect way to start the day! The kids will definitely enjoy it as they can do many activities such snorkelling with rays or ride a shark vision boat.
- North of Mallorca: Relax at Playa de Muro where you will find long stretches of child-friendly white sand beaches with shallow crystal clear water. Ponderosa Beach Restaurant has a waterfront location and perfect for a chilled family lunch.
- Dinner in Puerto Portals: Famous for being a celebrity spotting destination. Walk and shop around the port and have a paella at Flanigan.
- Lunches & sunset worth mentioning: Restaurante Sa Punta (amazing views), Purro Beach Club (lounge style), Museum De Bellas Artes (lovely sunset), Cuit (Palma)
- Dinners worth mentioning: Vandal (experimental), Koa Grills & Cocktails, Fera (on the terrace), Patron Lunares (cool Mexican)
Hotel Tip in Mallorca: St Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort. The location is closest to Palma, so easy to reach the centre whenever you need to and central enough to be able to explore all parts of the island.
