Baqueira Beret

Baqueira-Beret, located in the Val d’Aran region of the Spanish Pyrenees, stands out as the most popular and prestigious ski resort in Spain, often visited by the Royal family. It is also the biggest resort in Spain with well kept modern facilities, high-end hotels and restaurants. The resort itself is extremely child friendly with a strip of hotels connected by an indoor shopping gallery right by the a ski lift. There are many ski school options, children areas and slopes for all ski level. Here’s what not to miss:

  • Village of Vielha: A nearby charming village where you can find everything from Michelin-starred restaurants to local cuisine. The top two things to see are the Church of Saint Michael and the Aran Valley Museum.
  • Skiing for Everyone: Whether you’re just starting or you’ve been skiing forever, there are different slopes for all levels.
  • Funpark in Beret: A ski circuit that passes through “monsters” and statues of animals native to the Val d’Aran.
  • Era Marmòta SnowPark: A freestyle area catering to skiers and snowboarders of all levels.
  • Montgarri Outdoor Activities: They offer snowmobile tours, dog sledding tours, and snowshoeing. Make sure to book lunch at Refugi Montgarri (traditional cuisine from the local area), which is only accessible by snowmobile or sleds.
  • Horse-drawn Carriage: Book a horse-drawn carriage through the snowy forest.

**Hotel Tip: Hotel Val De Neu is an excellent choice, especially when traveling with small children. It is right by the main gondola that connects to the lifts in the indoor gallery, linking several shops and hotels together. The hotel has a kids’ club with a small indoor pool, and parents can choose to leave the kids for dinner with the club while they enjoy a quiet dinner in any of the hotel restaurants. The hotel also provides a free private ski guide to introduce its guests to the slopes.
